How To Be A Writer-Bear

MAWSON SAYS: I am a very lucky bear. Not many Writer-Bears get published these days. But I now have Too umm, no, Three books out there in the wide bright world. And one more ready to go. And I helped on another one too. I am now an experienced writer-bear.

One is called It’s A Bright World To Feel Lost In . And my Number Too book is called She Ran Away From Love. And one is my book about something dear to everyone: daydreaming, napping and resting. Dreamy Days and Random Naps is full of napping tips demonstrated by my drowsy team of experienced Nap-pers. Practice them at home on your own cushions. Read more about it here.

The Bear Part: So how can you get started being a writer-bear just like me? Well, if you are a bear already, that’s best. That saves a lot of trouble.

The writer Part: Now the hard part: being a writer. It’s very hard to be a writer. The bother of it all, you see, is you have to write Words. They are tricky things. Sometimes they say what they mean and sometimes they mean something else from what you are saying; and making them say just the right thing is not easy at all.

Words. Tricky Things: The best way to deal with Words is to keep looking at your big book full of words. This is called a Word-inary. Here is my copy of the McBearies Word-inary. You look for words you like the look of and then you pounce on the ones that look about right. Once you have rounded up your Words, you are ready to Write Them Down.

Things you need for writer bear-ing: Here is a picture of Me, Mawson, showing how it’s done. I have the Things-To- Write- Words- On in front of me. On my head are the Things-To-See-The-Words-With.

You will also need the Things-To- Write-Tricky-Words-With. You can make the Words by using pens. But pens are rather small if you have big paws. So you can also use Brushes and Plumes. Not textas and paints, though, bears. They mess up your fur.

This is my favourite writing Plume (below). Isn’t it lovely. You can even hold it with both paws. If it’s a warm day you can also wave it about to make gentle breezes that ruffle your fur and keep you cool. I hope these tips help you to begin an illustrious career as a writer-bear.
