This is what she kindly said on Amazon and GoodReads about Mawson’s little books.
Sweet and heartwarming. I’ve been in a reading rut during the past few months, and Mawson is just the dose of cuteness I needed to help pull me out. This book is a little work of art. If you love bears and cute heartwarming stories, you’ll love Mawson.
And, about She Ran Away From Love: Like The Velveteen Rabbit meets Pooh Bear! I stumbled across this picture book for adults after seeing it advertised on a blog tour. I’m so glad I read it! The photos are adorable little works of art and the story is a lovely extended metaphor than can be applied in many different ways. I love teddy bears and the details In these photos are so clever. Mawson is reading “For Whom the Bear Hugs,” and the tiny brush he uses to pamper Frilly is too sweet. Her cute little Island has a sign that is spelled phonetically and the stuffed bird was precious. A great book for all ages.
Thank you so much Rebecca. Every word warms a bear’s stuffing.
Mawson’s book She Ran Away From Love is about an exciting quest by Frilly. Although she is small and nervous she is determined to find herself. Look for the pink! Read more about Frilly here.
Some other reviews: Mawson is all about niceness, warm fuzzies, and pawsing, umm, pausing to take a little time for yourself. And then perhaps to nap. Certainly these reviewers thought so: Praise for Mawson, a writer-bear.
You have wandered into Mawson Bear’s web-den. Mawson is the Writer-Bear of It’s A Bright World To Feel Lost In . “Reading this book is like receiving a great big hug of reassurance and a huge hot chocolatewith fluffy marshmallows.” Review by Lady Bracknell
Mawson’s Guardian Says: Excitement spreads through Mawson’s House. A box has arrived. Could it contain Mawson’s writer-bear copies? Bears roll off cushions and waddle over to see. Bomund and Gold Paws open the top. Frilly strains to see.
Bomund and Gold Paws push the box over. Wurry Bear climbs over the top and almost falls inside trying to see. Yes, there are books inside! Frilly runs into the box. Pink books! Yes, She Ran Away From Loveis real. It’s a book. It’s ready for the wide bright world.
Everyone wants to read the story of Frilly’s quest. They all know it well. They all helped make the words and pictures. But to actually hold the BOOK and turn the pages is so exciting.
You have wandered into Mawson Bear’s web-den. Between naps among cushions, Mawson ponders about Baffling Things. ‘The book brings back such nostalagic memories that it made it comforting, like a old security blanket.’ FNM Book reviews about Bright World.
Mawson Bear’s Guardian Mark speaks: As you know our Mawson is a Writer-Bear. She Ran Away From Love is his brand new book. It features a small heroine called Frilly who goes on a Quest. I’m sure lots of people (and their bears) will love Frilly, if only they knew about her. And it is the same for every writer: if only readers knew about their books!
THE POWER OF REVIEWS: Writers need YOUR help. When you are quiet sort of writer (or writer-bear) it is not easy to be heard out there in the wide world.
After you find the book you have read, scroll down past the book’s description and click on ‘Leave A Review’, or ‘Write Your Own Review’.
The Bother part: This takes you to a Customer page where you need to sign in. If you haven’t before used that book retailer you also need to register to do so. This is a bother, I know.
The Fun part: But then comes the fun: smiting away at the Star Ratings. If you are an excitable sort of person, or if you love the book, just keep on smiting. Smite Thrice!!! Smite Fourfold!!!! And, yea even unto Five times!!!!! Disappointingly, the Retailers don’t let us smiteth more than five times, even if you have got into the rhythm of the thing.
Writing some thoughts about the book: You will see a field where you can say things. Here, if you wish, you can write a line, or many lines, about the book. Then click Submit. Valiantly done! And what happens now?
The power of the reader. Yes, that’s You: The Algorithms that decide the fate of writers, and writer-bears, now record that some one (You) has taken the trouble to review this book. These mysterious Algorithms perk up with interest .They calculate lots of thingygums. The visibility and ranking of Mawson’s book titles (and of any writer you kindly review) now gets bumped up a bit.
Having tasted your awesome power, why stop there? You can copy what you have written and go to any other on-line retailer, to as many as you like, depending on how mighty waxeth your Smiting arm that day, and you can paste in the same review. It all adds up. And up. And UP. And it means lots of people will fall in love with our Frilly, just like you.
Your boon companions: Doubtless there are other bold readers among your boon companions. Share on this very post, so that they too may do these valiant deeds! We writers (and one writer-bear) will never disavow your selfless mission!
Please let me know if you would be interested in doing a review for She Ran Away From Love. If you would like to help to tell the bright world about Frilly, i can send you a PDF copy. Don’t fear that the world ‘review’ means an essay is required. Short remarks are fine. Or just bash away at the star ratings.
Fellow Baffled Ones, soon your Writer-Bear (that’s Me!) will have more than One book in the wide, bright world. I expect it will be book Number … ummm … some sort of number … tricky things, numbers are … Just a moment please ..
[Mawson’s Guardian, whispers: Your “second” book, Mawson. That means its “Number Two”.
Mawson: Too? Is that what a Too is? Well I never.]
Mawson: So, this Too Book has Frilly in it. And here is Frilly.
Our Frilly ran away from Love. That’s what our Too book is going to be called: “She Ran Away from Love, by Mawson Bear“.
Frilly: I couldn’t help it, Mawson.
Mawson: But it was Love, Frilly. Love is Good.
Frilly: But it shone so brightly! I was scared
What does Frilly do next? Well, it really is most interesting because ..
[Guardian: Mawson, Mawson, Shhhhh. That’s what the book is about!]
Mawson: So … errr .. I shouldn’t say it here?
[Guardian: Best not, Mawson. Not yet.]
Mawson: Oh. Well, umm, Frilly’s book – and I’m in it Too – what a funny number that is – anyway , Frilly’s book is mostly about what happens after She Ran Away .
What would happen to YOU if you ran away from Love?
Mawson’s Guardian adds: For more news about our Frilly, plonk your paw on the Follow button.

While creating She Ran Away From Love, by Me, Mawson, we bears discovered that to make a book just right, there must be lots of pondering, writing, editing and (shudder) revision.
It was all so much work that I kept falling into a nap, worn out. But my helpers kept at it. They kept on learning about the things you have to do to take a book out to the wide bright world.
They made Important phone calls on the Important Green Phone. They fixed the cameras so as to make the pictures. They found out what to do on the Bright-World-For-Bears-Web-Net. They found out how to help tell everyone about ‘She Ran Away From Love.Because even though what you really want to do is to send little book of ponders with pictures in it out for everybody, you also have to do an awful lot of other Stuff.
It’s A Bright World To Feel Lost In is already out in the wide world.‘This book made me smile. This book made my heart sing.’ Pauline Dewberry of thedailymews.com. ‘Heartwarming and poignant’. Jack Magnus of Readers Favourite.
Director Scotland the Brave called a Conference. All the Pictures to be in my coming book got pondered about. Again. All the Words that go with the Pictures were talked about. Again. This is called (shudder) Revison and (gulp) Editing.
Frilly listened intently because she is the star.
I already did much pondering for the Words and hopefully they are just right. But friends can sometimes see ways to better-rer. Err, make them better. The Words, not the friends. I don’t want to change my friends. They are already just right.
It’s altogether a deal of bother to make a book. There are the words. The naps. There are the pages. The covers. The naps. The conferences. More naps. Pots of coffee. Pots of honey … And now it’s all done! And you can also see the the Words Frilly will say in She Ran Away From Love.

Fellow Baffled Ones,
‘Wardrobe’ took a long time to finish ward-robing Frilly to get her ready for the photos in She Ran Away From Love. They looked at hats. They looked at clothes. They looked at bags. They looked at Props. Then they got out brushes and potions.
Here she is with Tartan Scarf and Bonnet, bears of the Wardrobe, or is it bears of the Makeup? Frilly is being Wardrobed. Or being Made Up. It’s all very baffling because Frilly is already herself and she doesn’t need to be made up. (And she would rather not be put in a wardrobe. Unless its the Narnia one). But ‘Wardrobe’ kept on fussing. It seems you need the patience of a bear to be a star in photos. Anyway, it was just as well because the Tech Bears made an awful muddle out of fixing their cameras.
It’s A Bright World To Feel Lost In is the first book by Me, Mawson. It would be grand if you could ask your friendly book shop to order one for you – and another one for a huggable friend. We bears love bookshops. You may need this enormous number: ISBN 978-1-922200-44-0.
A meditation on the nature of love, missing, grieving, solace and healing.‘ Thoughts on Bright World by Isobel Blackthorn, author of The Drago Tree and A Perfect Square.
Fellow Baffled Ones, I’ve asked Director Scotland the Brave about the ‘Bears of the Wardrobe’. Apparently it does not mean that my fellow bears have wandered into Narnia. ‘Wardrobe’ is the job that Scarf Bear and Bonnet are doing. They are dressing up Frilly for her scenes in She Ran Away From Love. Now they are deciding about hats.
Where to findIt’s A Bright World To Feel Lost In, also by Me, Mawson: You can plonk your paw here to order it through Book Depository with free shipping all over the world. Also at Amazon and Abebooks.com and Goodreads.com and, oh! all over the place.
You are in the web den of Mawson Bear, Ponderer of Baffling Things (between naps) and Writer-Bear.
It takes all sorts of fuss (between naps) to make a book. Much pondering was pondered by Me, Mawson, about The Words. Then we needed Pictures because it is a Picture Book For Grownups And Everybody. And the Tech Bears then came along with their cameras to make pictures.
The cameras aren’t working. Sigh
The camera bears are fixing the cameras. Possibly.
But that was not the only delay. Frilly was ages with Tartan Scarf and Bonnet, bears of the Wardrobe. Here you see them now choosing the Props to use in the photos when the photos get taken by the cameras that the camera bears are fixing (possibly). When you read the book you can see most of the props that are shown here. I wonder if you will spot them all.
To see more about what the pictures will look like in the book when it is ready, please plonk a paw down on the Follow Button on this blob, umm, this blog. And plonking also on this button that goes to Amazon will show you where the book is.
It’s A Bright World To Feel Lost In at Amazon and everywhere too. Or, ask your friendly book shop to order one for you – and another one for a huggable friend. For all of your huggable friends. Bears LOVE bookshops. And friends. Umm … You may need this enormous number: ISBN 978-1-922200-44-0.
Fellow Baffled Ones, here are pictures grom when we made She Ran Away From Love.
Our Tech Bears, Professor Bree and helper Elliot Bear are having bothers with their cameras. They are looking at them a lot. They are taking bits out. They are putting bits back. But they are not taking photos.
So the making of the photos of the Behind-The-Scenes pictures of the scenes that are In The Scenes of the pages my new book .. umm .. where am I? Well, making scenes of all sorts has stopped.
Director Scotland the Brave chats with star Frilly while the Tech Bears check their cameras
Scotland the Brave is our Director. You can tell he’s the director because he got hold of the chair that says ‘Directors Chair’.
Scotland found it very hard to Direct while all the photo-making bears were taking the photo-making things apart and not making photos. Even though he had the chair. So he talked to our Star, Frilly, instead. What about Me, Mawson Bea. I’m also in She Ran Away From Love. I sit on a lot of the pages. But Frilly is the star. That’s why the Director Bear is talking to her. Directors like to talk to the Stars.
Fellow Baffled Ones, we’re making extra pictures to tell the bright world all about the new book by Me, Mawson Bear, called She Ran Away From Love. It’s about a Quest.
These pictures are about making the pictures in the Book. They are behind-the-scenes pictures. It’s a baffling thing to say because we are all in the scenes that we’re making the scenes of .. behind of … Umm … No, we’re in the scenes that we are behind of so that we can be .. errr .. in them? Possibly?
On the Set with director Scotland the Brave, Scruffy, Prof Bree, Bonnet, Frilly and Tartan
Scotland the Brave is boldly being Director. Scruffy is importantly doing important phone calls on the important green phone. Prof. Bree said she will also make moving pictures that go around. Just now the Thing-That-Goes-Around A-Lot is .. umm.. not going around.
Bonnet and Tartan Scarf Bear are being Wardrobe. Possibly this is something to do with Narnia? Today they help Frilly to choose The Explore Bag. The Explore Bag is very important in my story. Everyone wants the bag that gets the big role of Explore Bag to be just the right sort of bag. For exploring with.
Choosing just the right bag to be the Explore Bag that Frilly will carry on her quest
She Ran Away From Love is published by Publisher Obscura. They do fun and beautiful books for Grownups with pictures in them. The pictures are mostly in the books, not in the Grownups. Or behind them .. umm .. They make grand presents for Cubs as well as Grownups and for fellow bears and for everyone you know who appreciates Stuffing. The books make grand presents. Not the cubs.
You will see Me, Mawson, in the book. But the star is our Frilly. To keep getting news about Frilly and all my friends, plonk your paw on the Follow Button.
