Meet Scotland The Brave

My name is Scotland the Brave. I was the first bear to arrive in Mawson’s house after Mawson did. My job was to sit in the microwave oven and get warm and then sit close to people and make them feel comfortable. Mawson was amazed that I went into the oven.

‘You are so brave’, he said. I was so pleased to hear Mawson say so. ‘And I wear trews’, I said proudly. Mawson said everyone in Scotland is brave and also that it’s where trews come from. So I became Scotland The Brave. Mawson assured me that people in Scotland don’t sit in microwave ovens so I stopped. Nowadays, am brave in all kinds of other ways. I also deliver the post.

Here’s me with my favourite things. My postie hat and post box and my trusty truck.

You can see me being very brave in When A Brave Bear Fights Cancer: A Get Well Soon Gift, by Carola Schmidt. It is illustrated by Mark O’Dwyer who is my Guardian. I’m on nearly all the pages. In the book, sometimes I am worried and sometimes I am scared and always I am trying very hard to be brave. This is what the book looks like;

You can also see me in all the books by my grand friend, Mawson. One is called It’s A Bright World To Feel Lost In (in that one I deliver the post) and the Mawson’s next book is She Ran Away From Love (I deliver the post again.)

In Dreamy Days and Random Naps you can see me imagining more ways to be brave (between naps). This is what Mawson’s books look like.

Mawson’s Guardian says: Thank you, Scottie. And now a word about where to see more of our bravest bear and occasional postie. Dreamy Days and Random Naps is at Amazon everywhere, at Barnes and Noble, at Dymocks, at Booktopia, and soon to be at more.

You have wandered into Mawson Bear’s web-den. Mawson is a Ponderer of Baffling Things (between naps) and the Writer-Bear of It’s A Bright World To Feel Lost In  and She Ran Away From Love.

‘This little story made me well up. A lovely, poignant story with delightful illustrations.’ Jackie Law, Amazon Top 500 reviewer, about It’s A Bright World To Feel Lost in.

The book brings back such nostalagic memories that it made it comforting, like a  old security blanket.’  FNM Book reviews about Bright World.
