Dear fellow Baffled Ones,
There may have been no ME, once. Imagine! No Mawson at all, fancy that!
Then, one day I found myself sort of There. Yes, There I Was!
I was sitting .. hmmm. Somewhere. .. hmm .. Where was it now? Oh yes, In a shop. Rather like this splendid fellow here.

I heard a cry well up. It came from .. from … ME. From deep down in my stuffing.
“Take me Home”, cried that cry, “Take me Home”. And some one heard. And did.

I was fussed over and pampered. I dressed my best. And then I Went Out. Out and About, I went. Exploring and seeing Life. So began my splendid career as a Bear About Town.

I was much sought after. I was Best Bear at weddings. I was a favourite dancing partner. (The trick is to let the ladies hold you tight, and they do all the steps for you.)

I went along on picnics. There were parties too, Oh my goodness, yes. I patronised restaurants and had my own chauffeurs. The best of everything. Oh, they were grand days.

I dashed about admiring the wide, bright world. I was a lucky bear, oh yes, I was.
Sadly, , there was a price to pay. I did get rather dishevelled and scruffy during my Outings. This led to a Most Distressing Episode with a Washing Machine Monster. Fortunately, I escaped the terrible thing still as a handsome bear. But I never want to go around and around like that again! After that, this bear considered it wise, very wise, to stay Indoors among cushions. I became ‘A Bear About Cushions’. I highly recommend this career.

You are in the web den of Mawson Bear, Ponderer of Baffling Things (between naps). and Writer-Bear of It’s A Bright World To Feel Lost In and more books too. Look me up at Amazon.
“Just pure magic. A bear’s love is never far away and can be shared and passed on through generations.” Susan Hampson, of Books From Dawn To Dusk.
