Lionel Seeks His Fore-Lions: Finale. What Does Lionel Find?

The story so far: Inspired by pictures of Tasmanian Tigers, Lionel decided he had to search for his long lost fore-lions (Ep. 2). He and Gavin hitched a ride north from Perth to Geraldton, Western Australia (Ep 3) then journeyed on to the Shark Bay heritage region where they saw wild emus. Further north they ventured finally arrive at Coral Bay. After a day searching the beaches and shallow waters they decided to go wider and further in search of these elusive fore-lions.

They scoured the sand dunes. They searched the hinterland. They found roos, wallabies, lizards, birds, skate rays but, so far, no fore-lions.

They took advantage of the low tide to check hollows and overhangs along the shore. They looked down, they looked around, they looked up. No fore-lions. They rested and ate ice creams. Meanwhile, their Guardian went out to the Ningaloo Reef, and saw coral, turtles, octopi, all kinds of fish, manta rays and even whale sharks.

After this, they all returned home. Lionel and Gavin had never left Mawson’s House before, and they ended up seeing all kinds places and all kinds of creatures including wild emus. But still, as Lionel endlessly reminded Gavin on the long drive back to Perth, they hadn’t actually seen one of his long lost remote fore-bears or fore-lions. Well, Lionel had a surprise waiting for him at home. Watch this little video to see how it all worked out.
