So You Want To Be A Writer-Bear

Dear Fellow Baffled Ones,

I am a very lucky bear. Not many writer-bears get published these days. But I now have Too umm Two books out there in the wide bright world. One is called It’s A Bright World To Feel Lost In and the latest is She Ran Away From Love. Later there will be a book about something that is dear to every bear. Sleeping. It’s called Dreamy Days and Random Naps.

And soon! I will have my next book out too. It’s called Dreamy Days and Random Naps. Read more about it here.

So you can see that being a Writer-Bear is grand. So how can get started being a writer-bear just like me? Well, if you are a bear already, that’s best. That’s save a lot of trouble. Now the hard part: being a writer. It’s very hard to be a writer. The bother of it all, you see, is you have to write Words. They are tricky things. Sometimes they say what they mean and sometimes they mean something else from what you are saying and making them say just the right thing is not easy at all.

Being A Writer Bear illustrated: Here is a picture of Me, Mawson, showing how it’s done. I have the Things To Write Words On in front of me. On my head are the Things To See Words With.

Let’s start with the Things To Write The Tricky Words With. This is me after I had got dressed up to shop for a new pen. This is a handsome pen. You can make words by using pens. But pens are rather small if you have big paws. If you are a bear you will have big paws, so let’s find something else.

This is my favourite writing plume. Isn’t it lovely. You can even hold it with both paws. If its a warm day you can also wave it about to make gentle breezes that ruffle your fur and keep you cool.

You can see that I also like brushes. I keep them by me in pots because brushes are good for making words BIGGER. So, once you have your brushes and pens and plumes you are ready to plume and to brush and to pen the words. More about that in another post.

You have wandered into Mawson Bear’s web-den. Mawson is a Ponderer of Baffling Things (between naps) and the Writer-Bear of It’s A Bright World To Feel Lost In  and She Ran Away From Love.

‘This little story made me well up. A lovely, poignant story with delightful illustrations.’ Jackie Law, Amazon Top 500 reviewer.

Published by Baffled Bear Books

I am Mark, Guardian of Mawson Bear. Mawson sits on Bed-Top Hill. Between naps he ponders about Baffling Things. After deep ponders, most things remain for him as completly baffling as they were before. But they do seem friendlier, somehow. If you, too, are baffled by, well, Things, his little books of ponders could be just right for you.
